Forensic Electrical Engineer – Job Opportunity
Hudson International is looking for a qualified Professional Engineer to perform forensic investigations relating to Electrical Fires , Electrical Malfunctions, and Electrical Injuries.. Hudson International is a forensic engineering and consulting firm serving the insurance claims industry and legal community.

Responsibilities
1. Travel to sites throughout the Northeast US to perform forensic investigations of insurance claims or lawsuits. Possible types of loss or dispute include:
- Fires In which electrical components are suspected to be the source of ignition.
- Power Surges that have led to damage of electrical components.
- Personal Injury involving electrocution or electric shock.
- Electrical Utility Claims
- Lightning Strikes
- Generator Failures
2. Compose detailed technical reports of your findings for presentation to the client. Reports will be well written in a professional manner and delivered to client in a timely manner.
3. When necessary, testify as an expert witness in court or in depositions regarding your findings in your inspections.
4. Increase skill set by participating in regular continuing education.
5. Participate in Business Development initiatives set forth by Hudson International, including:
- Regular attendance at industry networking events and conferences
- Positive client interaction during assignments
- Keeping a business development mindset, seeking opportunities to find new clients and increase business.
Qualifications
1. Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Successful candidate will be willing to apply for Professional Engineer’s license in additional states. Greater consideration will be given to candidates with more state licenses.
2. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
3. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience post college graduation.
4. Must have a valid drivers license and be willing to travel to loss locations by car regularly. Most travel will be between Pennsylvania. New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, New York, and Connecticut, but travel outside of these locations may also be required occasionally. Air travel to various locations may be required occasionally (All travel expenses, including mileage, will be covered by the company).
5. Must be physically able and willing to climb on and inspect electical components on roofs.
6. The successful candidate will be well spoken and a skilled writer.
7. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and be willing to take on new roles and responsibilities as necessary to further the success of the company (Primary job responsibilities will not change except by mutual agreement by the employee and the company)
8. The successful candidate will have a high level of integrity, morals, and professional ethics.
Bonus Qualifications
The following qualifications are not mandatory but will increase the candidate’s chances of successful hire and affect compensation package:
1. A Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) Credential
2. Previous Experience performing forensic investigations
3. Experience testifying as an expert witness
4. Graduate Level Degrees including Masters and PhD
5. Additional Professional Licenses and Certifications relevant to the work of forensic engineering investigations. These may include but are not limited to:
- Licensed Building Inspector
- License as a Part 107 FAA Unmanned Aircraft Pilot (Drone License)
- Competency operating specialized testing equipment
- Participation and membership in industry organizations
Compensation
Salary is highly negotiable and highly dependent on level of experience and qualifications.
Salary considerations include whether candidate brings own book of business.
